Went down on spec yesterday at end of a break in the town and realised had missed the Western Lady and came across this company which I was not familiar with.
They guy in the kiosk held the 11.30 a.m. ferry for us and we bought two return tickets for a grand total of £6. What a bit of luck.
It transpires WeFerry are the last independent family run ferry company operating here. What a difference too....the crew were lively and funny plus informative...our boat called at Paignton on the way to Torquay and we loved the trip.
Got their direct service back at 1.30 p.m. and the Captain gave us a treat I have never experienced before by taking us on a mini coastal trip under the Imperial Hotel for a chance to see some of the spectacular rock formations beyond it - stopping to allow us a photo opportunity.
He then headed back providing fascinating information about other vessels including taking us alongside a spectacular Norwegian sailing ship, a run-down of the two main fishingmethods used by the Brixham fleet and details of the old Brixham sailing beamers anchored in the harbour.
All this made for a most enjoyable return trip - never bettered before.
So I say - use this company rather than they big boys. They are local, independent and great fun.
To be honest for a return price of £3 per person it is worth going just for the fun of the sailing trip.
They also operate a wide range of fishing trips. read less..

Boarded Brixham Belle sometime after 10am. She was built in 1923 and was a bit basic but folded blankets were provided for your comfort. The Captain was very knowledgeable about the boat, local area geology and fishing history. We learnt a lot, better than books. Coastline was stunning and because the boat has a shallow draft we got really near to seals at Hopes Nose. Had coffee and cake served with a smile. (on the way back I had a beer). Full directions and instructions were provided for the circular route and we took the optional but included trip from Teignmouth to Dawlish Warren on the train. Didn't have long to stop as had enjoyed a high quality, low cost breakfast at the Station Cafe at Teignmouth. Whole trip was well organised and great value for the money. Well done skipper and crew! Would fully recommend the Park and Ride service as long stay car parks in Brixham are not a quick walk to the quay and get full quickly in the season. read less..
